Who? Me? A runner?
Don’t make me laugh.
And yet, here I am. Training for yet another set of races.
It all started innocently enough, just a couple of unsuccessful stabs at a Couch to 5K program and a sense of “well, now what?” once I finally did complete it. I wasn’t sure what the point of it all was. So naturally, I signed up for a half marathon. To be fair, it was a half marathon at one of the most fun places you could think of – Walt Disney World – but still, it’s not like Cinderella was going to carry me 13.1 miles to the finish line.
And so I began to train.
Did I mention, I also work on a cruise ship? I do sketch and improv comedy for a well-known theatre, and I am on a cruise ships generally 8 months out of the year with my husband. We log a lot of treadmill miles. You think a half an hour on the treadmill is boring? Try 3 hours.
No wait. Don’t.
I’m just trying to keep alive that young girl who, when told a very exciting piece of news, her first instinct was to RUN around the 1 acre yard as the only way to handle the joy. (The news was a pony.) Running = joy. Stay with me, girl!
In my short journey so far, I’ve been invited to participate in a runDisney meet up/tweet up at the 20th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend:
I’ve become a Brand Ambassador for ENERGYbits:
I’ve completed two Marathons – the Space Coast Marathon and the Walt Disney World Marathon as part of the runDisney Goofy Challenge:
All while knocking 25 minutes of my half marathon PR!
Join me in my adventures, travelling, training, cross-training and running on water.
