Here we are, two weeks (and a smidge) into the New Year, and for some, 2014 feels like a new pair of wool socks. Sure, it was itchy and stiff at first, but as time wore on (change is never easy), things got comfortable, and a little slouchy.
So how are we doing with those promises we made to ourselves in the early minute/hours/days of this New Year? Do they seem a little beyond us? Far-fetched? Unachievable? Well, the good news is, it’s never to late to make a change.
I’ve written before about the importance of breakfast, including sporadically posting my #BreakfastOfTheDay on Instagram. But let’s be honest, if you’re heading out to work, especially in the cold dark mornings of winter, sometimes putting together a breakfast is just too much to think about. You become: The Breakfast Skipper! (Dun-dun-duhhhhhh!)
- Breakfast Skipper: You don’t have to sacrifice nutrition to fit it all in. You hit the ground running every morning, prepping and planning for your day on the way out the door. Wilting at your desk by 10 AM, you kick yourself for missing breakfast. As you reach for your third cup of coffee to get you through, you wonder who the heck has time for breakfast when you’re already skimping on sleep to fit it all in
Enter: Vega One Nutritional Shakes
I was recently sent a sample of these dairy, gluten, soy-free shakes to try out for their #OneChange promotion. Now, if you’re like me, protein shakes and powders on their own leave you a little bit ‘bleah”. I can pretty much never manage them on their own. That’s why I’m always trying new flavour combinations with fruits and spices and various added mix-in fixin’s. When I tried the French Vanilla Vega One nutritional shake I found it pretty sweet, and it reminded me a lot of cake batter. That got me thinking… And so, without further ado I bring to you, with the help of Vega One Nutritional Shakes my newest creation based on a favourite Italian dessert:
1 pouch French Vanilla Vega One Nutritional Shake
1 cup Almond Milk
1 shot cooled Espresso (or TBSP instant coffee)
2 tsp Cinnamon (or to taste)
Pop it all in your handy blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a tall glass, top with a dash of cinnamon, and enjoy!
Boom. One handed breakfast-to-go that’s filling and nutritious. (Look, I’m not going to judge you if you slip some Kahlua in there. I don’t know what your morning is like).
If you’re looking for one small way to change your life for the better, why not try the #OneChange movement today?
What’s your favourite kind of smoothie? Do you like mixing it up, or taking it plain?
Disclaimer: I was provided with a sample of Vega One for the purposes of this review, but my opinions are my own.
