Black Friday for Runners

It’s that time of year again. People are gathering together with their loved ones, endlessly putting food in their face-holes and gazing vacantly at football games to avoid facing the awkward dysfunction that is their family dynamic.

Nah, Thanksgiving’s great!

But let’s talk turkey.

Black Friday Sales.

This is the first time we’ll actually be on land (or in the US, for that matter) for Black Friday Sales, and I’m both intrigued and apprehensive. Will we be trampled? Will I take an elbow to the eye while reaching for the last Nutribullet on the shelf? Only time will tell!

In the meantime, I’ve come across several online Black Friday sales for runners. Here they are, in no particular order:

Urban Running Girl

I love these cute, stylish (designed and made in Canada) shrugs – they work perfectly for those days where you’re, like, “do I really need a jacket”?

Here's my Urban Running Girl Shrug. A perfect extra layer.

Here’s the deal:

Black Friday week started today at Urban Running Girl.  All shrugs are now $20!  That’s right!  Just $20 til next Wednesday.

Save almost 40% off the regular price.  And since we can fit up to 3 in the same parcel for the same shipping cost, why not get two or three?  A shrug makes a great gift for that female runner who has every gadget and gizmo.

Lasting Commemoratives

If you’ve done a runDisney race event, you’re probably familiar with Lasting Commemoratives. Every year they design a new graphic to go with the race and give away postcard versions to runners. Very sweet, and they make great souvenirs.

I’d post a photo of the frame I’d love to order, but I don’t want to infringe on any of their copyrights, so you can click through the medal display frame on Lasting Commemorative’s website.

Here’s the deal for their runDisney offerings:

Raw Threads

I love the feel and the breathability of bamboo, and the designs at Raw Threads are pretty adorbs. Starting Friday, they’re offering good discounts on some of their popular styles, including “Good Girls”, “Villains” and Running Skirts.

Black Friday deals start at 8AM on Friday.

Garmin

I love my Garmin. I do. I’ve had my 405CX since just before I ran my very first half marathon (Disney Princess 2012) and aside from some glitchiness in the rain and some user error, it’s been a real workhorse.

Hey, Garmin! What' up?
Hey, Garmin! What’ up?

That said, Garmin is offering special deals this Black Friday along with a contest:

Oh what fun it is to get a Garmin! Get ready to make some wishes. We’ll be granting 30 holiday wishes and one grand prize winner. Select any three items for your Garmin Holiday Wish List and share it with family and friends via your social networks. Let them know how much fun it is to#giveagarmin.

Multiple ways to win! Each day from now until Dec. 22nd, create and share your wish list and you’ll be entered to win the daily prize as well as be entered into the grand prize drawing. Come back daily to maximize your chances. So what are you waiting for? Make a wish! Official Rules

No real specifics about what the sale prices will be, but since the release of the new Forerunner 620 and Forerunner 220, my guess is some earlier models will see a discount.

It seems, too, that the sale will be on all their Garmin products, so shop for your favourite golfer or poor navigator as well!

There are, of course, also Daily Deals on Amazon and other major retailers, but this is what I’ve been able to compile while deftly avoiding packing for the Space Coast Marathon this weekend.

But now that this is done… I’m looking at you, suitcase…

**UPDATE**

Starting at 11:50 AM (EST) Amazon will have the Garmin Forerunner 610 as a Black Friday deal.

Lolo, the app company, is offering 50% off all their apps (including the popular Jeff Galloway training apps for all race distances) If you’ve been looking in the past but hesitated at the price, now’s your chance! Hit iTunes, or lolofit.com this weekend to grab the deal.

I just got an email from My Next Race, and the 98%, 5 Banana rated Midnite Run in Toronto is offering $10 off from now until 11:59pm on Friday by using coupon code mnrnyeten. If you want to ring in the New Year in a refreshing and healthy way, this race might just be a good fit for you. 1. Thanks for the mention and passing along the info. You look marvelous in your shrug. I can’t wait to get home tonight and browse online myself for the great deals/offers. Keep em’ coming! 🙂 If I was in the market for a Garmin, I’d definitely be ordering one. Mine is still ticking!

    • I hear you. Greg’s got one of those enormous 305s, but it’s a workhorse.
I, on the other hand, could not resist pre-ordering the 220 from Road Runner Sports with a 20% VIP discount last month. It’s at my dad’s place. I can’t wait to meet it!

      • Yep-I have the 305 as well. I’ve had it since 2008 – keep wondering if it will die one day so I can get something a little simpler/less bulky around my wrist. Perhaps the 220 will be my next choice. Let me know how you like it. Perhaps an upcoming blog topic. 🙂
