We’ve all heard some variation of the old maxim, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day”. Frankly, I’ve always thought the meal I’m eating right now is the most important, but I cannot deny that a good breakfast always gets my day off to the right start.
There are, of course, the studies that show people who skip breakfast are more prone to obesity, eating junk or fast food and suffering from lack of focus or energy throughout the day. You can find articles about those facts here and here.
So why are people still skipping breakfast in hopes of losing weight and saving time? Beats me! Let’s get together, people. Let’s resurrect the glory of breaking our fast and feeing our bodies with yummy, nutritious food! Let us raise up the humble brekkie!
Lately I’ve been posting my breakfasts on my Instagram account with the hashtag #breakfastoftheday and I invite you to join me. I’d love to see the healthy breakfasts you’re making (or choosing) for yourselves. It could be a bowl of oatmeal with some berries, or one of those breakfast sandwiches at your favorite local haunt. Doesn’t matter! Just share it with pride! You’re doing something amazing for yourself!
For me, I’ll be trying to come up with some creative “Buffet Hacks” by taking the typical buffet foods on our ship, and making the same old, same old feel fresh. Uh, wish me luck on that one.
